Hi, I’m Alyx. I’m a civil engineer, an award-winning STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) outreach advocate, and a mother of 3 young children. I graduated from Newcastle University with a First-Class Master’s degree in Civil and Structural Engineering, and swiftly returned to my roots in West Cumbria, where I have worked for over 10 years as a Civil Engineer in the Nuclear sector. Alongside engineering, I have been creating and delivering STEM workshops for schools and organisations since my career began.

I think the key to successful STEM outreach lies with collaboration between education and industry, and with Solway STEM Academy, I hope to work with educators to provide quality workshops and meaningful sessions that enhance curriculum requirements, while sparking children’s interest in STEM as early as possible!
